Introducing Alan Mitchell — Author and Screenplay Writer  Alan Mitchell was born in Newark and raised in Linden, New Jersey.  He earned a B.S. in corporate fitness from The College of New Jersey in 1991.   Alan began his career in the entertainment industry first as a model in NYC then moved to Los Angeles in 1994 to become an actor. After realizing that acting was far more competitive than the college basketball he played, he became interested in working behind the camera. Alan worked as a production assistant on over one hundred music videos and commercials. It is here that he began to hone his skills as a writer and develop his eye as a director.

Alan's writing career began by rewriting screenplays for independent film producers and treatments for music video directors. In 1998 he penned the Acapulco film Festival winning short film "Breakdown". Alan expanded his involvement in the business when he wrote, produced, and directed the short film "Pretty Boy" (1999) along with several spec commercials and independent rap videos.

Alan’s first novel Dapper Carter’s 8 Rules of Dating garnered critical acclaim while laying the groundwork for the Dapper Carter series. The second book, Dapper Carter’s 5 Fatale Flaws, will be released in July 2013. Other books in the series includes Kennedy Carter’s 8 Rules of Dating…What if Dapper left her First?, Dapper’s Daughter, and Dapper Carter Wuz Here!

The author also operates his own company, The Art of Personal Training, and has worked as a personal trainer for over 20 years. His passion includes filmmaking and his teenage rapper son, Kameron. Alan’s hobbies are watching baseball, eating crabs in the backyard, drinking beer, working out, photography, travelling, and driving anything that goes too fast. Alan currently resides in south Florida.
